…FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON…
The Flood Watch continues for
Portions of north central Illinois and northeast Illinois, including the following areas, in north central Illinois, Boone, DeKalb, Lee, Ogle, and Winnebago. In northeast Illinois, Lake IL and McHenry.
Until 3 PM CDT this afternoon
Rainfall from Tuesday night through Wednesday evening of one half to one inch on frozen ground across north central Illinois has created minor flooding in several locations, including some streams over their banks. Additional scattered showers and storms are possible today and while heavy rainfall is not expected, additional rainfall may exacerbate existing minor flooding.
Expect additional rises on area rivers and streams, particularly in the Rock and Pecatonica basins. Portions of these rivers and their tributaries are already above flood stage and this rainfall may worsen river conditions.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
