This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central Illinois…Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE…This Afternoon and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected…
Elevated Flooding Risk. Limited Thunderstorm Risk. Limited Non thunderstorm Wind Risk.
DISCUSSION…
Rain, some heavy, along with embedded thunderstorms will move eastward across the area this evening and early overnight. Because of wet conditions and frozen ground, rises on area rivers and streams will continue across north central and far northern Illinois. Some flooding is also possible in areas away from streams. In addition, some of the showers and storms may produce wind gusts in excess of 40 mph.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Thursday through Tuesday.
Thursday…
Limited Severe Thunderstorm Risk. Elevated Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
DISCUSSION:
High winds are expected Thursday, with gusts of 45 mph or greater possible.
Thunderstorms developing along a cold front during the day Thursday may be severe, with damaging winds the main threat. The greatest threat for severe weather will be over far eastern Illinois and northwest Indiana.
Rises on area rivers from rain and snow melt may cause flooding. The Fox and Rock river basins will be particularly prone to the potential for flooding over the next several days.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT…
Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:
Moving toward the northeast at 55 mph.
