This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of north central
Illinois...northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Weather hazards expected...

Elevated Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Level 1 of 5 Tornado Risk.
Level 1 of 5 Damaging Wind Risk...up to 65 mph.
Level 1 of 5 Hail Risk.
Limited Flooding Risk.

DISCUSSION...

Rain with embedded thunderstorms will overspread the region this
morning. Severe weather is not expected, but locally heavy
rainfall is possible, particularly south of I-80.

While additional storms are possible this afternoon, it's unclear
if storms will develop due to widespread morning precipitation and
cloud cover. If storms do form, damaging winds would be the main
threat, but quarter-sized hail and a tornado would also be
possible.

Level 2 of 5 Severe Thunderstorm Risk.

Thursday...
Elevated Flooding Risk.
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
Limited Excessive Heat Risk.

Limited Thunderstorm Risk.

DISCUSSION...

An active weather pattern will continue through the end of the
week with multiple additional chances for thunderstorms. Some
storms may be severe, posing primarily a damaging wind threat. In
addition, thunderstorms could produce torrential rainfall which
may lead to instances of flooding.

Heat indices may locally exceed 100 degrees at times Wednesday and
Thursday, mainly south of I-80.

Spotter activation is uncertain today, but may be needed.

GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:

Moving toward the east at 25 mph this morning, and southeast at
30 mph this afternoon.
