MORNING FOR SOUTHERN BOONE, NORTHERN DE KALB AND SOUTHWESTERN
MCHENRY COUNTIES...
At 147 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain has fallen across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches
of rain have fallen. Flooding impacts will continue, but no
additional heavy rainfall is expected. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.
IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage
ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and
other poor drainage areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Belvidere, Huntley, Loves Park, Marengo, Poplar Grove, Genoa,
Hampshire, Candlewick Lake, Cherry Valley, Kirkland, Kingston,
Timberlane, Union, Garden Prairie and Fairdale.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may
already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and
other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life
and property.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
