This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central
Illinois...Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected...
Significant Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Elevated hail risk...up to ping pong ball size.
Elevated damaging wind risk...up to 70 mph.
Limited Tornado risk.
Elevated Flooding Risk.
DISCUSSION...
Showers and non-severe thunderstorms are likely this morning.
After a break in thunderstorms this afternoon, additional
thunderstorms are likely to develop early this evening and
continue into tonight. Some of the thunderstorms this evening
could become severe, capable of producing large hail and damaging
winds. The most likely time of any potential severe thunderstorms
is roughly between 6 pm and 11 pm. While severe weather is
possible across the entire outlook area, the greatest severe
threat appears to be near and south of I-80.
In addition to the risk for severe weather, some of the
thunderstorms will produce torrential downpours. If thunderstorms
repeatedly develop and move over the same area this evening,
localized flash flooding is likely with isolated rainfall totals
in excess of 3 inches possible.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.
Saturday and Sunday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
