...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1030 PM CDT FOR
LIVINGSTON...KENDALL...LAKE...WILL...GRUNDY...KANKAKEE...NORTH
CENTRAL FORD...EASTERN KANE...NORTHWESTERN IROQUOIS...EASTERN
MCHENRY...DUPAGE AND COOK COUNTIES...

At 558 PM CDT, doppler radar indicated a narrow area of torrential
rain from eastern Livingston and northern Ford County northward to
western Kankakee, western Will, DuPage and northern Cook County.
This area of rain will lift gradually lift north northeast over the
next one to two hours. Up to two to three inches of rain or more
have fallen in the past two hours over portions of the warning area.

Trained weather spotters and emergency managers reported flash
flooding occurring in multiple locations from Livingston, Grundy,
southeast Kendall, and into Will County during the 5pm hour.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Trained weather spotters.

IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage
and low lying areas.

Additional rainfall amounts of one to two inches are possible in the
warned area over the next hour, which will exacerbate ongoing flash
flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flash flooding of
small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and
underpasses, country roads, farmland, and other drainage areas and
low lying spots.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to walk across flooded
roads.
