...THE FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 800 PM CDT SUNDAY FOR
NORTHWESTERN LIVINGSTON...LA SALLE...DE KALB...WESTERN KANE...MCHENRY
AND BOONE COUNTIES...
At 501 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated that the heaviest rain had
ended, with periods of moderate rain into the evening. Up to one to
two and a half inches of rain has fallen since this morning. Runoff
from this rain and ongoing rain will cause flooding in the advisory
area.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
McHenry, Belvidere, Woodstock, Ottawa, Sycamore, Streator, Peru,
Harvard, Marengo, Sandwich, Mendota, Genoa, Wonder Lake, Oglesby,
Serena, Shabbona, La Salle, DeKalb, Lake In The Hills and Huntley.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses,
country roads, farmland, and other drainage areas and low lying
spots.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to walk across flooded
roads.
