…FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON…
The National Weather Service in Chicago has expanded the
Flash Flood Watch to include portions of north central Illinois and northeast Illinois, including the following areas, in north central Illinois, DeKalb and La Salle. In northeast Illinois, Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake IL, and McHenry.
From this evening through early Saturday afternoon
Heavy rain producing thunderstorms are likely over northern IL tonight. Given that numerous thunderstorms may train over the same areas, significant rainfall amounts of 2, to locally 4, inches are possible across portions of northern IL into Saturday morning.
Expect additional rises on area rivers, particularly the Rock, Pecatonica and Fox River basins. Portions of these rivers are already above flood stage or are close to flood stage and this rainfall will worsen river conditions.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
