  • From 7 PM CDT this evening through Saturday afternoon

  • Heavy rain producing thunderstorms are likely over northern Illinois tonight. Given that numerous thunderstorms may track over the same locations, significant rainfall amounts of over 2 inches, to locally 4 inches, are possible across a portion of northern IL into Saturday morning.

  • Expect additional rises on area rivers, particularly the Rock, Pecatonica and Fox River basins. Portions of these rivers are already above flood stage or are close to flood stage and this rainfall will worsen river conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
