THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR North Central Illinois...
Northeast Illinois AND Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
Significant Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Elevated Hail Risk...up to half dollar size.
Elevated Thunderstorm Wind Damage Risk...up to 70 MPH.
Limited Tornado Risk.
DISCUSSION:
Scattered thunderstorms are likely this morning with a small
chance that the strongest storms could produce some hail, probably
smaller than 1 inch in diameter.
After a short break in the activity early this afternoon, more
thunderstorms are forecast to develop over northern Illinois
between 2 and 5 pm. These thunderstorms will likely increase in
coverage and intensity as they track east across eastern Illinois
into northwest Indiana toward evening. Some of these storms could
become severe with large hail and locally damaging possible in the
most intense storms. There is a very small threat of a tornado
early this evening over northwest Indiana and south of I-80.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.
Thursday night and Friday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
Saturday...
Elevated Thunderstorm Risk.
Tuesday...
Elevated Thunderstorm Risk.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotters may be needed between 3 pm and 10 pm, primarily east
of I-55 in Illinois and across northwest Indiana.
GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:
Toward the northeast at around 35 mph this morning and then toward
the northeast at 40 to 45 mph this afternoon.
