Elevated Thunderstorm Risk. Elevated Flooding Risk.
DISCUSSION…
Scattered thunderstorms are possible this afternoon, especially south of I-80. Although severe weather is not expected, an isolated stronger storm with the threat of gusty winds and brief heavy downpours is possible. Additional thunderstorms are expected tonight, mainly over far northern Illinois especially north of the Interstate 88 corridor and near the Wisconsin border. An isolated stronger storm will also be possible during this time, with hail and locally heavy rainfall the main hazards.

DISCUSSION:
There is a chance of thunderstorms over far northern Illinois early Thursday, and across the entire area Thursday night. Some storms Thursday may be strong to severe, with damaging winds and hail the main threats. Thunderstorms will end from northwest to southeast Friday morning and early afternoon as a cold front moves through the region.
