This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central Illinois…Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE…This Afternoon and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected…
Limited Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated: Limited Tornado risk. Elevated hail risk...up to quarter size. Elevated damaging wind risk...up to 60 MPH. Limited Non thunderstorm wind Risk. Elevated Fog Risk late tonight. Elevated Lakeshore Flood Risk
DISCUSSION…
Strong easterly winds will continue into this afternoon. Gusts to 40 mph will be possible, especially near Lake Michigan where the strong winds will cause large waves and some minor lakeshore flooding along the Illinois Lake Michigan shore.
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible by early to mid afternoon for areas south of I-88. Severe weather is not likely during this time. Additional thunderstorm development is possible late this afternoon into early evening south of I-80, especially along and south of a line from Mendota to St. Anne IL. A few of these storms could become severe, with all hazards possible at this time. Expect the threat of thunderstorms to end by mid to late evening.
