...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 AM CDT THIS
MORNING FOR LAKE IL AND NORTHEASTERN MCHENRY COUNTIES...

At 334 AM CDT, doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have
fallen since late Friday evening. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to
2 inches in 1 hour through at least 5 AM. Flash flooding is ongoing
or expected to begin shortly and likely will continue through
daybreak.

HAZARD...Flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses, as well as
other poor drainage and low lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Waukegan, Crystal Lake, North Chicago, Gurnee, Mundelein, Highland
Park, Round Lake Beach, McHenry, Vernon Hills, Zion, Grayslake,
Libertyville, Lake Forest, Round Lake, Antioch, Wauconda, Fox
Lake, Lake Villa, Island Lake and Cary.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Expect flooding of creeks, ditches, canals, and storm sewers, as
well roadways, underpasses, and other poor drainage areas.

Be especially cautious before daybreak when it is harder to
recognize the dangers of flooding.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
