...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 515 AM CDT EARLY THIS
MORNING FOR EAST CENTRAL BOONE, NORTHEASTERN DE KALB, NORTHERN COOK,
NORTHERN KANE, SOUTHERN LAKE IL AND SOUTHERN MCHENRY COUNTIES...
At 445 AM CDT, doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1
and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Although heavy rainfall has ended,
run-off from previous heavy rainfall will continue to create
flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
HAZARD...Flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.
IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses, as well as
other poor drainage and low lying areas.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Expect flooding of creeks, ditches, farmland, roadways, and and
other low lying areas.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
