THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS...THE STRONGEST OF WHICH COULD PRODUCE:
HAIL TO THE SIZE OF QUARTERS.
WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.
PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN RESULTING IN LOCALIZED FLOODING.
FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.
AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:
THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO OR DEVELOP OVER NORTH
CENTRAL ILLINOIS EARLY THIS AFTERNOON...THEN SLOWLY MOVE EAST
TOWARDS THE CHICAGO METRO AREA BY MID AFTERNOON. THUNDERSTORMS
WILL SLOWLY CONTINUE INTO NORTHWEST INDIANA DURING THE EVENING
AND OVERNIGHT HOURS.
DISCUSSION:
THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP TODAY AHEAD OF A COLD
FRONT AND POSSIBLY ALONG AN OUTFLOW BOUNDARY THAT WILL MOVE
INTO THE REGION LATE MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON. LARGE SCALE
FORCING IS SOMEWHAT WEAK AND MAY LIMIT THE COVERAGE OF
THUNDERSTORMS...BUT ANY STORMS THAT DO DEVELOP HAVE THE
POTENTIAL TO BECOME SEVERE. BY THIS EVENING...THUNDERSTORMS
ARE EXPECTED TO SLOW THEIR PROGRESS AND MAY TRAIN OVER THE SAME
AREAS LEADING TO LOCALIZED FLOODING.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.
THERE WILL BE PERIODIC CHANCES FOR THUNDERSTORMS MONDAY THROUGH
SATURDAY.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
SPOTTER ACTIVATION MAY BE NEEDED THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.
