THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

THUNDERSTORMS...THE STRONGEST OF WHICH MAY PRODUCE:
GOLF BALL SIZE HAIL.
WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.
A TORNADO.
HEAVY RAINFALL AND LOCALIZED FLOODING.

AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED ALONG A BOUNDARY
IN NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA. ADDITIONAL
THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP LATER THIS AFTERNOON
ACROSS FAR WESTERN ILLINOIS AND EXPAND IN COVERAGE ALONG
WITH INCREASED INTENSITY LATE TONIGHT THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT.

DISCUSSION:

DEEP MOISTURE RETURNS TO THE AREA LATER TODAY...SCATTERED
STORMS ARE LIKELY WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF A FEW SEVERE STORMS. A
SURFACE WARM FRONT HAS BEEN SLOW TO LIFT NORTH...AND REMAINS
ALONG A LASALLE TO VALPARAISO LINE THIS AFTERNOON. LATEST FORECAST
GUIDANCE HAS BEEN SLOW TO LIFT THIS BOUNDARY FURTHER NORTH AND
MAY REMAIN NEARLY STATIONARY THROUGH THIS EVENING. ALONG AND
NORTH OF THIS FRONT WILL BE A FAVORED AREA FOR STRONG
STORMS...A FEW OF WHICH LIKELY WILL BE SEVERE IN THE REGION.
WHILE LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED STRONG WINDS ARE THE PRIMARY
THREATS FROM LATE AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING...THE POSSIBILITY
OF A COUPLE TORNADOES EXISTS WITH STORMS ON THE WARM
FRONTAL BOUNDARY.

PORTIONS OF THE IROQUOIS AND KANKAKEE RIVERS WILL REMAIN IN FLOOD
STAGE.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

THUNDERSTORMS ARE LIKELY ON FRIDAY. THERE IS A CHANCE FOR A FEW
OF THESE TO BE SEVERE. PERIODIC THUNDERSTORM CHANCES WILL EXIST
SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK.

PORTIONS OF THE IROQUOIS AND KANKAKEE RIVERS WILL REMAIN IN FLOOD
STAGE THROUGH LATE THIS WEEK.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION MAY BE NEEDED TODAY AND THIS EVENING.
