This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central Illinois…Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.

.DAY ONE…Today and Tonight.

Flooding will continue along portions of the Rock, Pecatonica, and Fox rivers.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Wednesday through Monday.

Friday…

Limited Flooding Risk.  Limited Thunderstorm Risk.

Saturday…

Limited Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk near Lake Michigan.  Elevated Lakeshore Flood Risk.

DISCUSSION:

A frontal boundary will stall over the region late in the week, resulting in a couple bouts of moderate to heavy rainfall. Isolated thunderstorms are possible as well. Significant rainfall totals are possible, which could cause renewed river and stream rises and lowland flooding. Strong northerly winds on Saturday will cause large waves, increased lake levels, and a risk for lakeshore flooding.

Flooding will continue along portions of the Rock, Pecatonica, and Fox rivers.

Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.

The following forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as forecast precipitation 24-48 hours into the future.

The Fox River at Algonquin Lock & Dam tailwater, or from Johnsburg  downstream to Red Gate Road in St. Charles.
  • until Saturday evening.

  • At 730 PM Monday the stage was 10.1 feet.

  • Flood stage is 9.5 feet.

  • Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.

  • Forecast…The river will continue to fall to below flood stage this weekend, assuming upcoming rain late in the week does not slow this fall, which it may.
