THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
Elevated Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Limited Tornado Risk.
Elevated Hail Risk...up to quarter size.
Significant Thunderstorm Wind Damage Risk...up to 60 MPH.
DISCUSSION:
Thunderstorms in the form of clusters or at least a loosely
organized complex are possible mainly north of I-80 late
this afternoon into the evening. Confidence is low in the
evolution of these thunderstorms, but the amount of atmospheric
instability and wind shear expected to be available presents at
least some severe risk, especially across far northern Illinois.
The main severe threats, if severe thunderstorms occur, are
anticipated to be hail and damaging wind gusts.
The prime period for concern would be in the 6 to 8 pm time frame
across north Central Illinois, and 730 pm to 10 pm time across the
Chicago metro area, should the organized complex of storms
move through the area.
In addition...minor flooding will continue along portions of the
Illinois and Kankakee Rivers.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.
Wednesday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
Limited Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
Thursday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
Friday and Saturday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
DISCUSSION:
An unseasonably strong storm system will affect the Midwest on
Wednesday. Thunderstorms are possible, with a conditional risk
for severe thunderstorms. In addition, very strong southerly wind
gusts up to or above 40 mph are possible.
In addition...minor flooding will continue along portions of the
Illinois and Kankakee rivers.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotters may be needed this afternoon through this evening.
GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:
Toward the southeast or east southeast at around 30 mph.
