THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
Significant Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Elevated Tornado Risk.
Elevated Hail Risk...up to quarter size.
Elevated Thunderstorm Wind Damage Risk...up to 70 MPH.
DISCUSSION:
A complex of thunderstorms will spread east southeast across the
area from mid afternoon through early evening. South of
Interstate 80 and particularly along and south of the Illinois and
Kankakee Rivers, there is a risk for scattered severe
thunderstorms as squall line type development is expected to
occur.
The primary risks are damaging wind gusts and lower end severe
hail, with isolated tornadoes possible. There may also be isolated
thunderstorms ahead of anticipated linear development that pose a
risk for all severe hazards. To the north of Interstate 80, the
main threats are expected to be occasional cloud to ground
lightning and heavy downpours. The thunderstorm complex and
associated severe risk is expected to exit quickly southeast
during the early evening.
In addition...minor flooding will continue along portions of the
Kankakee River.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.
Saturday...
Limited Severe Thunderstorm Risk.
Sunday...
Limited Severe Thunderstorm Risk...mainly east of I-55.
Monday through Wednesday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
DISCUSSION:
Thunderstorms are expected across portions of the area Saturday
night into Sunday morning. A few strong to severe storms will
be possible.
In addition...minor flooding will continue along portions of the
Kankakee River.

Spotters will likely be needed this afternoon and evening.
GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:
Toward the east southeast at 30 to 40 mph.
