This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central
Illinois...Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected...
Elevated Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Limited Hail Risk...up to the size of quarters south of I-80.
Limited Damaging Wind Risk...up to 65 mph south of i-80.
Limited Flooding Risk.
DISCUSSION...
Showers and embedded thunderstorms will increase in coverage
across the area this morning, and will persist today before
gradually ending from northwest to southeast this afternoon and
early this evening. The presence of deep moisture and the expected
slow movement of the showers and storms will result in the
potential for locally heavy rainfall amounts in excess of an inch,
though not all areas will see these amounts. Areas that do
receive heavier amounts may see flooding of low-lying areas such
as ditches, viaducts and other flood prone low spots.
A few strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible south of
I-80 from midday into this afternoon, with damaging wind gusts and
large hail the primary severe threats in addition to heavy
downpours.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.
Monday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
Tuesday through Thursday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotters may be needed this afternoon south of I-80.
GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:
Moving toward the east-northeast at 20 to 25 mph.
