...Brief Window of Heavy Wet Snow Possible this Afternoon...
A band of wet snow, possibly mixed with some sleet and rain, is
expected to spread across northern Illinois this afternoon. There
is the potential for a two to three hour window of briefly
moderate to heavy snowfall, resulting in very wet snow amounts of
1 to 3 inches. This may impact the evening commute. Roads may
briefly become slush covered due to the high precipitation rates,
especially on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses.
Persons planning travel across the area this afternoon should be
prepared for locally hazardous travel.
