.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
Limited Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Limited Hail Risk...up to quarter size.
Limited Thunderstorm Wind Damage Risk...up to 60 MPH.
DISCUSSION:
A cluster of storms is over south central Iowa, and another
complex of storms is beginning to form over Missouri. Expecting
the storms over Iowa to dissipate before reaching north central
Illinois this evening. If any storms stay together, they will
likely only impact areas west of I-39. The southern storm complex
may clip areas south of a Pontiac, IL to Rensselaer, IN overnight.
Widespread severe weather is not expected, but if any strong
storms form, they will be south of the Pontiac to Rensselaer line
late tonight.
In addition...flooding is expected along portions of the Kankakee
River.

DISCUSSION:
A complex of thunderstorms will spread move across areas along and
south of the Illinois and Kankakee rivers through the early to
mid evening. There is a risk for scattered severe thunderstorms
accompanying this complex of thunderstorms.
The primary severe risks are damaging wind gusts and severe hail,
with a few isolated tornadoes possible. There may also be
isolated thunderstorms ahead of anticipated linear development
that pose a risk for all severe hazards. For areas near and just

DISCUSSION:
Widely scattered thunderstorms are likely this afternoon into
this evening. A strong thunderstorm or two is possible, especially
south of I-80, where the most likely hazard would be strong winds.
With a weak frontal boundary in place and a deep upper low, there could be
some funnel clouds that develop later today. At this time the tornado
threat is low.
In addition, portions of the Kankakee River in northwest Indiana
will remain in flood.

.OVERVIEW...The National Weather Service Northern Indiana office
documented an EF0 tornado that began in Benton County and
traveled into White County southwest of Wolcott, Indiana. In
addition to this event, funnel clouds were reported Saturday in
Newton County, Indiana, but no damage was found in that area.
Here is the summary of the tornado in Benton and White counties.

Estimated peak wind: 65 mph

Path width /Maximum/: 50 yards

SURVEY_SUMMARY: Spotter reports as well as video footage confirm a
tornado touched down just inside the Benton/White county line (N
County Road 1200 E) and crossed into White County shortly
thereafter south of W County Road 600 S. Although radar data
suggests the strongest winds may have remained over open fields,
the northeast corner of a property about a half mile south of 600
S suffered minor damage. A small boat on a trailer was flipped,
with a small tree being uprooted and an adjacent small building
was knocked down. Winds are estimated at around 65 mph. Note the
start location is in Benton County and the stop location is
in White County.
EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale Classifies
Tornadoes into the following categories.
