This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central
Illinois...Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected...
Elevated Snow Risk this morning.
DISCUSSION...
Snow, some of which will be moderate to heavy at times, will
continue early this morning for locales north and west of a
Pontiac to Calumet City line with a cold rain to the south and
east. Slushy snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches, locally higher
across parts of La Salle, Grundy, and Kendall counties are
expected, and this will cause slick and hazardous driving
conditions this morning. Snow will change back to rain through
this morning and afternoon.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.
Thursday...
Limited Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
Elevated Snow Risk.
Elevated Lakeshore Flood Risk.
DISCUSSION:
A strong storm system is expected to impact the region late
tonight and through Thursday with rain likely to change to snow.
Snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches, locally higher in spots, are
possible, with the highest accumulations expected generally in the
vicinity of the I-39 corridor and into portions of DeKalb and
McHenry Counties.
In addition, strong and gusty north to northeast winds will cause
high wave action to develop along the Lake Michigan shore late
tonight and especially through Thursday which is expected to
result in at least minor lakeshore flooding.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
