…Narow Band of Moderate to Heavy Snow Through Early Afternoon…
A very narrow band of moderate to heavy snow stretched from Lake Illinois southwest to eastern Ogle and central and northeastern Lee counties as of 1131 AM CST. The heaviest snow was occurring in northwestern Kane and northern DeKalb counties.
Expect snowfall rates within most of the band of roughly one half inch to one inch per hour, with localized rates in the most intense snow of over one inch per hour. This will cause poor visibility under one quarter mile at times and snow covered, hazardous roads. Total snowfall amounts through 2 PM within this narrow snow band should be about one to three inches.
Motorists are advised to use plenty of extra caution when traveling across areas being impacted. Slow down and increase following distance. </pre>
