...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 445 AM CDT FOR
SOUTHERN LAKE...NORTHERN KANE...SOUTHERN MCHENRY...NORTHERN DUPAGE
AND NORTHERN COOK COUNTIES...

At 1159 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported significant flooding
in Elgin due to heavy rain from thunderstorms. Numerous streets were
reported flooded in the city of Elgin...some impassible...along with
basement flooding.

Radar rainfall estimates indicate that from 2 to as much as 5 inches
of rain has fallen along an axis from roughly Hampshire...to Pingree
Grove...to Elgin. Slow moving thunderstorms continue to move to the
east across the warned area...with the heaviest rainfall currently
across northern DuPage county. Rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 3 inches
are possible with these slow moving storms as they continue to move
across the Bloomingdale...Addison and Bensenville areas through 130
am CDT.

Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Chicago, Elgin, Cicero, Arlington Heights, Evanston, Schaumburg,
Palatine, Skokie, Des Plaines, Berwyn, Mount Prospect, Wheaton,
Hoffman Estates, Oak Park, Downers Grove, Glenview, Elmhurst,
Lombard, Buffalo Grove and Carol Stream.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
