...THE URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL
815 PM CDT FOR SOUTHWESTERN LAKE...NORTHERN DE KALB...NORTHERN
KANE...SOUTHERN MCHENRY...NORTHERN DUPAGE...NORTHWESTERN COOK AND
SOUTHERN BOONE COUNTIES...

At 615 PM CDT, Doppler radar estimated that up to two inches of rain
fell with the thunderstorms earlier this afternoon. The rapid
rainfall led to urban and small stream flooding in the advisory
area. No additional thunderstorms are expected tonight.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chicago, Elgin, Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Palatine, Des Plaines,
Mount Prospect, Hoffman Estates, Elmhurst, Carpentersville, Addison,
Algonquin, Belvidere, Woodstock, Rolling Meadows, Roselle, Lake
Zurich, Franklin Park, Sycamore and Wauconda.

Including the following interstates...
I-90 between mile markers 22 and 60.
I-290 between mile markers 1 and 11.
I-355 near mile marker 30.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
