AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:
A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS LATE THIS AFTERNOON
WEST OF A HARVARD ILLINOIS TO FOWLER INDIANA LINE.
INTENSE HEAT IS EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON AWAY FROM LAKE
MICHIGAN.
DISCUSSION:
A WEAK COOL FRONT PUSHED INLAND FROM LAKE MICHIGAN OVER NORTH
CENTRAL ILLINOIS AND HAS STALLED THIS AFTERNOON. THE CHANCE OF
THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THIS FRONT IS NOT PARTICULARLY
HIGH...SHOULD THEY OCCUR THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR
THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND
EVENING. DAMAGING WINDS WOULD BE THE PRIMARY THREATS.
IT CONTINUES TO BE VERY HOT AND HUMID ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE
FRONT WITH HEAT INDEX READINGS ABOVE 105 DEGREES...TO SOME
LOCATIONS IN NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS ABOVE 110 DEGREES.
MARINE FOG CONTINUES TO IMPACT THE SOUTHERN TIP OF LAKE MICHIGAN
LATE THIS AFTERNOON. THIS FOG LAYER HAS ALSO PUSHED INLAND INTO
LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES IN ILLINOIS. VISIBILITIES WILL FLUCTUATE
AT TIMES BETWEEN ONE HALF MILE TO LESS THAN ONE QUARTER MILE.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY.
INTENSE HEAT WILL CONTINUE WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY WITH HEAT
INDEX READINGS OF 105 TO POSSIBLY AS HIGH AS 115 LIKELY BOTH
AFTERNOONS.
