Hazardous Weather Outlook

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS...SOME MAY PRODUCE:

BRIEF HEAVY RAINFALL.
FREQUENT LIGHTNING.

OPPRESSIVE HEAT AND HUMIDITY.

AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

A COLD FRONT MOVING SOUTHEAST ACROSS THE REGION COULD SPARK
ADDITIONAL SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS
AND NORTHWEST INDIANA THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

THE DANGEROUS HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL CONTINUE...MAINLY
SOUTH OF THE INTERSTATE 80 CORRIDOR.

DISCUSSION:

AS THE ATMOSPHERE BEGINS TO RECOVER FROM THIS MORNINGS
THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY...THERE MAY BE ENOUGH INSTABILITY THAT
DEVELOPS FOR ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS TO GENERATE ALONG AND
AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT MOVING ACROSS THE REGION THIS AFTERNOON
AND EVENING. WITH WEAK FLOW ALOFT...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE
NOT EXPECTED...HOWEVER ADDITIONAL RAINFALL MAY COMPOUND
FLOODING PROBLEMS DUE TO RECENT HEAVY RAIN AND SATURATED SOILS.

LOCATIONS ON THE DES PLAINES AND DU PAGE RIVERS WILL REMAIN
ABOVE FLOOD STAGE THROUGH TONIGHT.

HEAT INDEX VALUES ARE EXPECTED TO RISE TO 105 TO 110 DEGREES
THIS AFTERNOON FOR LOCATIONS SOUTH OF A LINE FROM STREATOR
TO PEOTONE. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THIS MORNING...AND
LINGERING CLOUD COVER HAVE COMPLICATED TEMPERATURE
FORECAST...AND MAY KEEP SOME AREAS COOLER.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.

THERE WILL BE PERIODIC CHANCES FOR THUNDERSTORMS WEDNESDAY
THROUGH SATURDAY.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION WILL NOT BE NECESSARY THROUGH TONIGHT.
