THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

THUNDERSTORMS...THE STRONGEST TONIGHT MAY PRODUCE:

TORRENTIAL RAINFALL AND FLASH FLOODING.
OCCASIONAL TO FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.
ISOLATED WIND GUSTS UP TO 50 TO 60 MPH.

AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS THE
OUTLOOK AREA...WITH THE GREATEST POTENTIAL MAINLY SOUTH OF THE
INTERSTATE 80 CORRIDOR. ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP
THIS EVENING INTO TONIGHT...WITH THE MOST WIDESPREAD COVERAGE
EXPECTED SOUTHWEST OF A LINE FROM ROCHELLE ILLINOIS TO SOUTH
OF VALPARAISO INDIANA OVERNIGHT.

DISCUSSION:

A SLOWLY WEAKENING MID LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL MOVE EAST ACROSS
THE OUTLOOK AREA THIS AFTERNOON...WITH RAIN AND EMBEDDED
THUNDERSTORMS OVER MUCH OF THE OUTLOOK AREA. DEVELOPMENT OF
ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS IS EXPECTED TONIGHT...ALONG A WARM
FRONT WHICH WILL LIFT NORTH ACROSS THE AREA. STORMS THAT
FORM ALONG OR NORTH OF THE WARM FRONT ARE EXPECTED TO BE SLOW
MOVING...AND MAY PRODUCE HEAVY RAINFALL AND POTENTIALLY FLASH
FLOODING. THERE IS ALSO A RELATIVELY LOW THREAT FOR A FEW
STRONG TO MARGINALLY SEVERE STORMS THIS EVENING AND TONIGHT...
WITH THE MAIN THREAT BEING GUSTY WINDS.

PORTIONS OF THE ILLINOIS...IROQUOIS...VERMILLION AND KANKAKEE
RIVERS...AND SUGAR CREEK REMAIN IN FLOOD.


.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.

THERE ARE PERIODIC CHANCES FOR THUNDERSTORMS SUNDAY THROUGH
THURSDAY. SOME OF THE THUNDERSTORMS SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY
MAY BECOME STRONG TO SEVERE...AND WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR
HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND FLASH FLOODING. ON SUNDAY INTO SUNDAY
NIGHT...THE MAIN THREATS ARE EXPECTED TO BE DAMAGING WIND GUSTS
AND LARGE HAIL. ON MONDAY INTO MONDAY NIGHT...DAMAGING WIND GUSTS
AND LARGE HAIL ARE THE MAIN THREATS...BUT A FEW TORNADOES ARE
POSSIBLE.

PORTIONS OF THE ILLINOIS...IROQUOIS...VERMILLION AND KANKAKEE
RIVERS...AND SUGAR CREEK WILL REMAIN IN FLOOD.
