THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

THUNDERSTORMS...A FEW OF WHICH MAY PRODUCE...
HEAVY RAINFALL AND FLASH FLOODING.
WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH.

AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

AN AREA OF SHOWERS WITH SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS HAS DEVELOPED
OVER NORTHWEST AND NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS THIS AFTERNOON AND
EXPECTING THE SHOWERS AND STORMS TO SPREAD EAST THROUGH THIS
EVENING. ISOLATED TO SCATTERED EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS ARE
EXPECTED NORTH OF INTERSTATE 88 WITH GREATER THUNDERSTORM
COVERAGE ALONG AND SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 88. STRONG TO AN
ISOLATED SEVERE STORM OR TWO MAY BE POSSIBLE SOUTH OF
INTERSTATE 88.

DISCUSSION:

CONVECTIVE SHOWERS AND STORMS HAVE FORMED AHEAD OF THE UPPER
LEVEL DISTURBANCE OVER EASTERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST ILLINOIS.
SHOWERS AND STORMS SHOULD CONTINUE TO SPREAD EAST ACROSS THE
REGION WITH BETTER THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE ALONG AND SOUTH OF
INTERSTATE 88. CAPE AND SHEAR VALUES ARE BETTER SOUTH OF
INTERSTATE 88 SO STRONG TO PERHAPS AN ISOLATED SEVERE STORM
OR TWO ARE MORE LIKELY. OF GREATER CONCERN IS THE ABUNDANCE
OF MOISTURE ACROSS THE REGION. THIS WILL RESULT IN HEAVY
RAINFALL RATES IN ANY STORMS AND THAT COULD LEAD TO FLASH
FLOODING...ESPECIALLY IF COVERAGE OF STORMS ARE WIDESPREAD OR
THEY MOVE SLOWER THAN ANTICIPATED. ANTECEDENT CONDITIONS ARE
VERY WET ALONG AND SOUTH OF THE I-80 CORRIDOR...AND THIS AREA
WOULD BE MOST SUSCEPTIBLE TO FLOODING.

PORTIONS OF THE ILLINOIS...IROQUOIS...AND KANKAKEE RIVERS REMAIN
IN FLOOD.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

PEAK HEAT INDICES OF 100 TO 105 DEGREES ARE EXPECTED FRIDAY
AFTERNOON AND BETWEEN 100 AND 110 DEGREES SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF A THUNDERSTORM FRIDAY...THEN AGAIN
SATURDAY AFTERNOON. THUNDERSTORM CHANCES WILL INCREASE SATURDAY
NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT. ANY THUNDERSTORMS THAT DO OCCUR WILL
BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING TORRENTIAL RAINFALL.

THERE IS A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS AGAIN BY NEXT THURSDAY.

PORTIONS OF THE ILLINOIS...IROQUOIS...AND KANKAKEE RIVERS REMAIN
IN FLOOD.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO REPORT HEAVY RAINFALL TOTALS TO THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHICAGO.
