THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

THUNDERSTORMS...A FEW OF WHICH MAY PRODUCE...
HEAVY RAINFALL AND FLASH FLOODING.
WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH.

AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

SOME THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS AT LEAST NORTH CENTRAL
ILLINOIS THIS AFTERNOON WITH THE HIGHEST COVERAGE EXPECTED
ACROSS THE OUTLOOK AREA THIS EVENING. THE CHANCE FOR A SEVERE
STORM WILL BE LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND INTO TONIGHT...MAINLY
ALONG AND WEST OF A BELVIDERE TO KANKAKEE LINE. THE HEAVY
RAINFALL POTENTIAL IS GREATEST THIS EVENING AND EARLY
OVERNIGHT...AND INCLUDES MUCH OF THE AREA.

DISCUSSION:

THE ATMOSPHERE WILL SLOWLY DESTABILIZE THIS AFTERNOON AND INTO
THIS EVENING ACROSS THE AREA. AS THAT OCCURS...THUNDERSTORM
LIKELIHOOD WILL INCREASE. STRONGER THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP
MID-LATE AFTERNOON TO THE WEST OF THE AREA AND MIGRATE EASTWARD
INTO THE OUTLOOK AREA. WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER IS NOT
LIKELY...BUT AN ISOLATED SEVERE STORM OR TWO COULD OCCUR. OF
GREATER CONCERN IS THE INCREASING AMOUNT OF MOISTURE RETURNING
TO THE AREA BY THIS EVENING. THIS WILL PRESENT HEAVY RAINFALL
RATES IN ANY STORMS AND THAT COULD LEAD TO FLASH
FLOODING...ESPECIALLY IF COVERAGE OF STORMS ARE WIDESPREAD OR
THEY MOVE SLOWER THAN ANTICIPATED. ANTECEDENT CONDITIONS ARE
VERY WET ALONG AND SOUTH OF THE I-80 CORRIDOR...AND THIS AREA
WOULD BE MOST SUSCEPTIBLE TO FLOODING.

PORTIONS OF THE ILLINOIS...IROQUOIS...AND KANKAKEE RIVERS REMAIN
IN FLOOD.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

THERE ARE PERIODIC CHANCES OF THUNDERSTORMS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY
AND THEN A GREATER CHANCE SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY.

VERY HUMID CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OVER THE OUTLOOK AREA FRIDAY
THROUGH SUNDAY WITH HEAT LIKELY TO ACCOMPANY THIS DURING ONE OR
ALL OF THE DAYS...SETTING THE STAGE FOR HEAT INDEX VALUES OF 100
TO 110. SUCH MAGNITUDES OF HEAT CAN CAUSE HEAT RELATED
ILLNESS...ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE OVERALL LACK OF HEAT THIS
SUMMER.

PORTIONS OF THE ILLINOIS...IROQUOIS...AND KANKAKEE RIVERS REMAIN
IN FLOOD.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION IS NOT ANTICIPATED FOR MUCH OF THE AREA THROUGH
TONIGHT...THOUGH RAINFALL REPORTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
