THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...OVERNIGHT.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS...THE STRONGEST OF WHICH MAY PRODUCE:
WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH.
FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.
LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL OF UP TO AN INCH.
AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:
ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS OVER PORTIONS OF WEST
CENTRAL AND CENTRAL ILLINOIS WILL DEVELOP NORTHEAST INTO THE
AREA DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS...WITH AN INCREASE IN
COVERAGE EXPECTED AFTER MIDNIGHT AS AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE
APPROACHES.
DISCUSSION:
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS OVER CENTRAL ILLINOIS WILL MOVE INTO
THE AREA OVERNIGHT...AHEAD OF AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE AND
A COLD FRONT APPROACHING FROM THE WEST BY EARLY FRIDAY MORNING.
THE LOSS OF DAYTIME HEATING HAS DECREASED THE POTENTIAL FOR
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVERNIGHT...THOUGH A FEW WIND GUSTS OF 40
TO 50 MPH WILL REMAIN POSSIBLE THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE
LATE EVENING HOURS. INCREASING DEEP MOISTURE OVERNIGHT WILL
ALLOW FOR STORMS TO PRODUCE LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL OF AN INCH
MORE...WHERE SEVERAL STORMS CAN TRACK OVER THE SAME AREA.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.
LINGERING THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE FRIDAY MORNING...WITH
THE POTENTIAL FOR A FEW OF THESE STORMS TO REACH SEVERE
LIMITS...MAINLY EAST OF INTERSTATE 57 AND SOUTH OF THE KANKAKEE
RIVER VALLEY.
THERE IS ANOTHER CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH
MONDAY NIGHT.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
SPOTTER ACTIVATION WILL NOT BE NECESSARY THROUGH TONIGHT.
