DISTURBANCE LIFTS OUT OF THE SOUTHWEST AND SOUTHERN PLAINS STATES.
SURFACE LOW PRESSURE IS FORECAST TO DEVELOP OVER THE LOWER
MISSISSIPPI RIVER VALLEY...AND MOVE JUST SOUTH OF THE OHIO RIVER
VALLEY AND INTO WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA BY WEDNESDAY MORNING.
SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP WELL NORTH OF THE LOW TRACK FROM WEST
CENTRAL ILLINOIS EASTWARD ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST
INDIANA TUESDAY AFTERNOON. SNOW WILL CONTINUE OVERNIGHT...BEFORE
TAPERING OFF FROM WEST TO EAST WEDNESDAY MORNING. A FEW LAKE
EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS MAY LINGER INTO WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON FROM THE
ILLINOIS AND INDIANA STATE LINE EAST INTO NORTHWEST
INDIANA...BEFORE SNOW COMPLETELY ENDS.
AT THIS TIME IT APPEARS THAT SEVERAL INCHES OF ACCUMULATION ARE
LIKELY ACROSS THE AREA FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY
MORNING. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL...POTENTIALLY AROUND 6 INCHES...IS
CURRENTLY EXPECTED TO OCCUR SOUTH OF THE INTERSTATE 80 CORRIDOR
FROM CENTRAL ILLINOIS INTO NORTHERN INDIANA...WITH AMOUNTS
DECREASING FARTHER NORTH TOWARD THE ILLINOIS WISCONSIN STATE LINE.
ACCUMULATING SNOW IS EXPECTED TO AFFECT THE TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND
WEDNESDAY MORNING COMMUTE PERIODS. ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED
AND SLIPPERY. IN ADDITION...GUSTY NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS TUESDAY
NIGHT AND EARLY WEDNESDAY MAY PRODUCE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW
ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.
