THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHICAGO HAS ISSUED A DENSE FOG
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CST / 8 PM EST/ THIS
EVENING.
* TIMING...DENSE FOG HAS MOVED INTO AN AREA FROM RENSSELAER TO
KANKAKEE TO PONTIAC AND MORRIS EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. THIS FOG
WILL CONTINUE TO LIFT NORTH WITH AN INCREASINGLY WARM AND MOIST
AIR MASS. THUNDERSTORMS AND STRONG WINDS ARRIVING WITH A COLD
FRONT LATE THIS AFTERNOON WILL IMPROVE VISIBILITIES BUT BRING A
THREAT OF GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH DURING THE EARLY TO MID EVENING
HOURS.
* WINDS...A PERIOD OF SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WIND GUSTS AS STRONG AS
50 TO AROUND 60 MPH FOR A TIME THIS EVENING.
* VISIBILITY...LOCALLY ONE QUARTER MILE OR LESS THIS AFTERNOON.
* IMPACTS...DENSE FOG WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS
THIS AFTERNOON. STRONG WINDS THIS EVENING MAY RESULT IN TREE
DAMAGE...EASILY TOSS LIGHTWEIGHT UNSECURED OBJECTS AND MAKE
TRAVEL DANGEROUS FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A HIGH WIND WARNING MEANS A HAZARDOUS HIGH WIND EVENT IS EXPECTED
OR OCCURRING. SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 40 MPH OR GUSTS
OF 58 MPH OR MORE CAN LEAD TO PROPERTY DAMAGE.
A DENSE FOG ADVISORY MEANS VISIBILITIES WILL FREQUENTLY BE
REDUCED TO LESS THAN ONE QUARTER MILE. IF DRIVING...SLOW DOWN...
USE YOUR HEADLIGHTS...AND LEAVE PLENTY OF DISTANCE AHEAD OF YOU.
