DISCUSSION:

Lake-effect freezing rain and snow continues across parts of
Porter County tonight into the early morning hours on Tuesday.
Light ice accumulations up to 0.05 inches and snow totals of
less than 1 inch are expected.

Gusty north winds continue this evening and could gust as high
as 40 mph along the Indiana Lakeshore and to 30 mph along the
Illinois Lakeshore and farther inland in northwest Indiana.
These strong winds have produced large waves on Lake Michigan
that have already led to lakeshore flooding along the Indiana
Lakeshore. The worst conditions are expected to continue across
northwest Indiana, but some lakeshore flooding remains possible
along the southern Illinois shoreline as high waves continue
tonight. Winds and waves should ease by Tuesday afternoon.

Indiana.

Accumulating lake effect snow will likely develop this morning
and will persist into early Tuesday morning across northwest
Indiana. Lake effect snow bands may briefly brush the northeast
Illinois Lake Michigan shoreline today as well.

with a few gusts to 60 mph are possible.

* WHERE...All of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana.

* WHEN...Through this afternoon. The strongest winds are
expected from 9 AM to 4 PM.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
Difficult travel is expected for high profile vehicles on
north south oriented roads.
