THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
Elevated Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Elevated Tornado Risk south of the Kankakee River.
Elevated Hail Risk...up to quarter size.
Elevated Thunderstorm Wind Damage Risk...up to 60 MPH.
Limited Flooding Risk.

A majority of area rivers are experiencing elevated levels, with
minor flooding on many of them.

DISCUSSION:

Scattered thunderstorms producing primarily heavy rain and
localized flooding, with perhaps some small hail, will continue
through early afternoon. Additional thunderstorms will develop
this afternoon as a warm front lifts north across central Illinois
and Indiana. The higher coverage of thunderstorms looks to be
focused mainly south of I-80 in the mid afternoon through the
early evening. Some of the storms could be severe, mainly along
and southeast of a Pontiac to Kankakee to Valparaiso line. Hail
will be a threat with any strong to severe storm in these areas.

The locally greater severe threat will be near and south of where
the warm front lifts to this afternoon, which at this time appears
to be south of the Kankakee River. There is an isolated tornado
and damaging wind risk south of the Kankakee River. Although
severe weather is not expected north of I-80 at this time,
isolated strong storms producing heavy rain and small hail are
possible. The threat for strong to severe thunderstorms will end
during the early evening.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

Flooding will continue along portions of the Kankakee River in
northwestern Indiana.

Wednesday...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotters will likely be needed this afternoon through early
evening for areas southeast of a Pontiac to Kankakee to
Valparaiso Indiana line..

GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:

Moving northeast at 40 MPH.
