This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of north central
Illinois...northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
Weather hazards expected...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk.
DISCUSSION...
A few isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon mainly
north of I-88 across far northern Illinois. Scattered
thunderstorms are likely after midnight tonight, especially across
the Illinois portion of the outlook area. While no severe weather
is expected overnight, the strongest storms could produce small
Hail.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.
Thursday...
Limited Severe Thunderstorm Risk.
Limited Flooding Risk.
DISCUSSION...
Scattered thunderstorms are likely across the area Thursday
morning, and some of these storms could be severe with hail to the
size of quarters and wind gusts to 60 mph. Additional periods of
thunderstorms are possible through the afternoon and evening hours
ahead of a cold front, though confidence in extent and timing of
these storms has lowered with the potential for morning storms to
shift the focus for later development farther south. A conditional
severe threat would persist however for any storms that may form
across the area through Thursday evening. In addition, locally
heavy rainfall amounts in excess of an inch are possible from
these storms. This may produce minor localized flooding.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:
Moving toward the northeast at 25 mph this afternoon, and
northeast at 40 to 45 mph late tonight.
