...Period of Accumulating Snow and Blowing Snow This Morning...

A period of moderate to briefly heavy snow is expected this
morning, likely reaching Rockford, DeKalb and Dixon areas prior to
8 AM, then east into the Chicago metro after 8 or 9 AM. The rather
short duration of the heavier snow should result in only minor
accumulations, up to an inch or so. However, south winds will
increase to 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 30 to 40 mph later this
morning. The strong winds combined with snow will result in
sharply reduced visibilities and some blowing snow.

Since untreated roads will likely become snow covered, anyone
planning to drive this morning should leave extra travel time.
