This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North Central
Illinois...Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
.DAY ONE...Tonight.
Weather hazards expected...
Limited Thunderstorm Risk...with an associated:
Limited Flooding Risk.
Limited Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
Limited Fog Risk.
DISCUSSION...
Soaking rain with a few isolated embedded thunderstorms
will continue through this evening for areas near and south or
southeast of a Streator to Chicago line. Ponding may been countered
on some roads, with localized minor flooding possible in low
lying, poor drainage areas. In addition, rises can be expected on
rivers and streams that receive the most additional rain on top of
what has already fallen. If any stronger thunderstorm can develop
south of I-80 into early evening, brief strong winds will be possible.
Southwesterly to westerly winds will gust to 30 to 35 mph overnight,
with brief sporadic gusts up to 40 mph possible near and southeast
of I-55.
Patchy dense fog may be encountered through the mid evening near
the far northeastern Illinois shore of Lake Michigan.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.
Thursday...
Limited Non Thunderstorm Wind Risk.
Limited Snow Risk.
Saturday Morning...
Limited Snow Risk.
DISCUSSION:
Wet snow may come down heavily at times for a few hours on
Thursday morning across portions of northern Illinois, mainly near
the Wisconsin border. The main impact would be periods of sharply
reduced visibility due to the wet snow and blustery winds, with
patchy slushy pavement accumulation possible on some bridges and
overpasses.
Another period of wet snow and some accumulation is possible on
Saturday morning.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
GENERAL STORM MOTION OF THE DAY:
Moving toward the northeast at 50 to 60 mph.
