...STRONG WINDS IN THE WAKE OF THE RAIN...
AS THE RAIN HAS ENDED ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...GUSTY EAST
WINDS HAVE DEVELOPED DUE TO A WAKE LOW PRESSURE. GUSTS IN EXCESS
OF 45 MPH HAVE BEEN OBSERVED AT STERLING AND DIXON...AS WELL AS IN
FAR SOUTHERN WISCONSIN. THESE TYPE OF WIND SPEEDS...POSSIBLY EVEN
GUSTING TO 55 TO 60 MPH...ARE LIKELY TO SPREAD EASTWARD AS THE
RAIN ENDS. ONCE THE WIND SPEEDS INCREASE THEY ARE LIKELY TO LAST
FOR AN HOUR TO TWO BEFORE DIMINISHING GRADUALLY.
COMMUNITIES LIKELY TO SEE SUCH WINDS INCLUDE
ROCKFORD...BELVIDERE...ROCHELLE...DEKALB...MORRIS...OTTAWA...AND
WESTERN SUBURBS OF THE CHICAGO METROPOLITAN AREA.
WINDS THIS STRONG MAY CAUSE SMALL OBJECTS SUCH AS TRASH BINS TO
BLOW AROUND. SEEK SHELTER IN A STURDY STRUCTURE UNTIL THESE WINDS
HAVE PASSED AROUND.
