Illinois...Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.

Weather hazards expected...

Elevated Snow Risk this evening.
Significant Blowing Snow Risk.
Significant Excessive Cold Risk.
Elevated Non-Thunderstorm Wind Risk.

DISCUSSION...

While snow will be ending this evening, dangerous travel conditions
are expected to continue tonight due to icy and snow-covered roads,
and due to sharp visibility reductions caused by blowing/drifting
snow. Near-blizzard conditions are possible tonight, especially in
open areas.

Temperatures will continue to plummet into tonight with low
temperatures expected to range generally between 5 and 10 degrees
below zero. Brisk winds will result in minimum wind chill values
between 30 and 40 degrees below zero late tonight into Friday morning.

DISCUSSION:

Dangerous travel conditions are expected to continue through
Friday night due to a combination of falling snow, blowing snow,
and bitterly cold temperatures. Near-blizzard conditions are
possible Friday and Friday night, especially in open areas.
Conditions may become life-threatening for anyone who becomes
stranded.

Very strong winds Friday may result in some tree damage and power
outages. Dangerously low wind chills are expected Friday through
Sunday.

Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
