DISCUSSION:

A powerful winter storm is forecast to impact portions of the
region Thursday into Friday, bringing wind driven snow and
possibly blizzard conditions. Forecasts in coming days will
refine the forecast track and intensity of this storm as new data
arrives. Any of these refinements could result in significant
changes to the expected extent and severity of the storm's impacts
on northern and central Illinois and extreme northwest Indiana.
However, based on current forecasts, this area appears likely to
experience severe winter weather impacts, especially Thursday
night and Friday.

Regardless of the track of the winter storm, bitterly cold arctic
air and strong winds will result in dangerously low wind chills
Friday through Saturday night. These winds also may result in
lakeshore flooding, primarily for northwest Indiana on Friday.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation will not be necessary through tonight.
