THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS...THE STRONGEST OF WHICH MAY PRODUCE:
WIND GUSTS TO 60 MPH.
HAIL TO 1 INCH.
AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:
LATE THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT. STRONGEST STORMS ARE MOST
TO BE ACROSS ILLINOIS PORTION OF OUTLOOK ALONG OR SOUTH OF
INTERSTATE 80.
DISCUSSION:
A COLD FRONT HAS SAGGED ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST
INDIANA SINCE LAST EVENING...BECOMING NEARLY STATIONARY JUST
SOUTH OF THE INTERSTATE 80 CORRIDOR. THIS FRONTAL ZONE WILL
BECOME THE FOCUS FOR SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT THIS
EVENING...AS AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE AND SURFACE LOW PRESSURE
CENTER TRACK INTO THE AREA. ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS
WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE AREA OVERNIGHT...WITH THE GREATEST
POTENTIAL FOR STRONG STORMS GENERALLY ALONG AND SOUTH OF THE FRONT
AND I-80 CORRIDOR ACROSS THE ILLINOIS COUNTIES OF THE OUTLOOK
AREA. A FEW SEVERE STORMS ARE POSSIBLE PARTICULARLY DURING THE
LATE EVENING HOURS IN THIS AREA...WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR ISOLATED
WIND GUSTS TO 60 MPH AND HAIL 1 INCH OR A LITTLE LARGER. ANY
STRONG STORMS WHICH OCCUR NORTH OF THE FRONT WOULD BE MAINLY A
HAIL THREAT.
LOCALLY DENSE FOG IS POSSIBLE TONIGHT MAINLY NORTH OF INTERSTATE
80...AND PARTICULARLY NEAR LAKE MICHIGAN.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.
THERE IS A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS THURSDAY MORNING.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
SPOTTER ACTIVATION WILL NOT BE NECESSARY THROUGH TONIGHT.
