THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...TONIGHT.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS...THE STRONGEST OF WHICH MAY PRODUCE:
AN ISOLATED WIND GUST TO 60 MPH.
PENNY TO QUARTER SIZE HAIL.
AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:
THE STRONGEST STORMS ARE MOST LIKELY TO BE ALONG OR SOUTH OF A
LINE FROM MENDOTA TO WATSEKA LATE TONIGHT.
DISCUSSION:
A NEARLY STATIONARY SURFACE FRONT OVER SOUTHERN SECTIONS OF THE
AREA WILL GRADUALLY INCH NORTHWARD TOWARDS THE INTERSTATE 80
CORRIDOR TONIGHT. THIS FRONTAL ZONE WILL BECOME THE FOCUS FOR
SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT...AS AN UPPER LEVEL
DISTURBANCE AND SURFACE LOW PRESSURE CENTER TRACK INTO THE AREA.
ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE
AREA OVERNIGHT...WITH THE GREATEST POTENTIAL FOR SOME ISOLATED
STRONG STORMS GENERALLY SOUTH OF A LINE FROM MENDOTA TO WATSEKA.
LOCALLY DENSE FOG IS POSSIBLE TONIGHT MAINLY NORTH OF INTERSTATE
80...AND PARTICULARLY NEAR LAKE MICHIGAN.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.
THERE IS A CHANCE OF A FEW STRONG THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUING SOUTH
OF INTERSTATE 80 THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING.
THERE IS A CHANCE OF A PERIOD OF SNOW OVER FAR NORTH CENTRAL
ILLINOIS...IN AND AROUND THE ROCKFORD AREA...THURSDAY AFTERNOON.
GIVEN THE SNOW COULD FALL AT A HEAVY RATE...SOME ACCUMULATIONS ARE
POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY ON GRASSY AREAS AND ELEVATED SURFACES.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
SPOTTER ACTIVATION WILL NOT BE NECESSARY THROUGH TONIGHT.
