NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
THUNDERSTORMS...THE STRONGEST MAY PRODUCE:
WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH.
PEA SIZE HAIL.
FREQUENT LIGHTNING.
AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:
THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ACROSS PORTIONS OF
NORTHEASTERN ILLINOIS LATER THIS MORNING INTO EARLY AFTERNOON.
THESE STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO SHIFT SOUTHEASTWARD ACROSS EAST
CENTRAL ILLINOIS AND NORTHWESTERN INDIANA DURING THE AFTERNOON.
DISCUSSION:
A COLD FRONT WILL PUSH ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWESTERN
INDIANA TODAY. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP
ALONG AND AHEAD OF THIS FRONT LATER THIS MORNING INTO THE
AFTERNOON AS IT APPROACHES NORTHEASTERN ILLINOIS. THESE
THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE SOUTHEASTWARD ACROSS EAST CENTRAL
ILLINOIS AND NORTHWESTERN ILLINOIS DURING THE AFTERNOON.
ALTHOUGH ATMOSPHERIC INSTABILITY AHEAD OF THE FRONT COULD
SUPPORT SOME STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS NORTHWESTERN INDIANA
AND EAST CENTRAL ILLINOIS THIS AFTERNOON...WIND SHEAR IS
MARGINAL AT BEST. THEREFORE...WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER IS NOT
EXPECTED TODAY. HOWEVER...A FEW STRONG STORMS MAY PRODUCE GUSTY
WINDS TO 50 MPH AND SMALL PEA SIZED HAIL. THE BEST CHANCES FOR
STRONG STORMS WILL GENERALLY BE ALONG AND SOUTH OF A MORRIS TO
VALPARAISO LINE. THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL END BY THIS EVENING AS
THE COLD FRONT CLEARS THE AREA.
THERE IS A MODERATE RISK FOR RIP CURRENTS FOR THE PORTER COUNTY
INDIANA SHORES THIS AFTERNOON.
THERE IS A HIGH RISK FOR RIP CURRENTS TONIGHT...FOR THE INDIANA
SHORES OF LAKE MICHIGAN.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY.
THERE IS A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS AGAIN FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.
THERE IS A HIGH RISK FOR RIP CURRENTS WEDNESDAY...FOR THE INDIANA
SHORES OF LAKE MICHIGAN.
