* WIND GUSTS TO 60 MPH
* FREQUENT LIGHTNING
* PEA TO NICKEL SIZED HAIL
* TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS
* ISOLATED TORNADOES
AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:
* CLUSTERS OF THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE EASTWARD
ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST ILLINOIS THROUGH EARLY
AFTERNOON. THE BEST COVERAGE OF STORMS WILL OCCUR ALONG AND
NORTH OF INTERSTATE 88 THROUGH EARLY AFTERNOON.
HOWEVER...ADDITIONAL STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP SOUTH OF
INTERSTATE 88 TOWARD THE INTERSTATE 80 CORRIDOR INTO EARLY
AFTERNOON. FROM EARLY AFTERNOON ON...SCATTERED OR BROKEN
CLUSTERS OF STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO OCCUR FROM SOUTHERN LAKE
MICHIGAN SOUTHWESTWARD ACROSS AREAS EAST OF INTERSTATE 55
INCLUDING NORTHWEST INDIANA AND AREAS SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 80.
DISCUSSION:
* AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH AND SURFACE FRONTAL BOUNDARY WILL
CONTINUE TO DRIVE THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE
AFTERNOON. ABUNDANT MOISTURE AND INSTABILITY ARE IN PLACE AND
WILL ALLOW STORMS TO PULSE UP TO NEAR OR JUST ABOVE SEVERE
LIMITS THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. STORMS ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL AND
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS THIS AFTERNOON WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE EAST
WITH SOME SOUTHWARD EXPANSION EXPECTED. BRIEF PERIODS OF
TORRENTIAL RAINFALL WILL OCCUR WITH DAMAGING WIND GUSTS THE
MAIN SEVERE THREAT AS STORMS WILL REMAIN PRIMARILY LINEAR IN
NATURE. AN ISOLATED BRIEF TORNADO CANNOT BE RULED OUT.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.
THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK FOR RIP CURRENTS ALONG THE INDIANA
SHORE OF LAKE MICHIGAN SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY MORNING.
THERE WILL BE PERIODIC CHANCES FOR THUNDERSTORMS TUESDAY THROUGH
WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
