NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...TONIGHT.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
THUNDERSTORMS...THE STRONGEST COULD PRODUCE:
DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.
HAIL TO ONE INCH.
FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.
AND LOCALLY HEAVY DOWNPOURS.
AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING OVER PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST
WISCONSIN AND SOUTHERN LAKE MICHIGAN WILL LIKELY EXPAND IN
COVERAGE THIS EVENING...AND WILL LIKELY AFFECT AT LEAST PORTIONS
OF NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA AFTER 9 PM CDT.
THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY CONTINUE TO AFFECT ESPECIALLY NORTHEAST
ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA THROUGH 2 OR 3 AM CDT...THEN
DIMINISH IN COVERAGE.
DISCUSSION:
A MID LEVEL DISTURBANCE MOVED EAST OF THE OUTLOOK AREA THIS
AFTERNOON. SINKING AIR IN THE WAKE OF THIS DISTURBANCE HAS ALLOWED
CLOUDS TO CLEAR OUT ACROSS THE AREA EARLY THIS EVENING. HOWEVER...
ANOTHER STRONG DISTURBANCE WILL DROP SOUTHEAST OUT OF NORTHERN
WISCONSIN LATER THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT...AND WILL LIKELY
RESULT IN ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT TONIGHT. WHILE VERY
WARM AND HUMID AIR EXISTS TO THE WEST OF THE OUTLOOK AREA THIS
EVENING...TEMPERATURES ALOFT ARE QUITE WARM...PRODUCING A CAPPING
INVERSION THAT WILL HINDER THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT FARTHER TO THE
WEST. THE GREATEST POTENTIAL FOR THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY BE FROM
CENTRAL WISCONSIN ACROSS SOUTHERN LAKE MICHIGAN...THOUGH SCATTERED
STORMS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP AS FAR WEST AS PORTIONS OF NORTHERN
ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA. SOME OF THE STRONGER STORMS MAY BE
CAPABLE OF PRODUCING ONE INCH HAIL...AND ISOLATED WIND GUSTS TO 60
MPH.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY.
THERE IS A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS AGAIN ON WEDNESDAY...MAINLY
DURING THE MID AFTERNOON TO EARLY EVENING HOURS AHEAD OF AN
ADVANCING COLD FRONT. THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE MOST LIKELY OVER
SOUTHEASTERN PARTS OF THE OUTLOOK AREA...MAINLY SOUTH AND EAST OF
THE INTERSTATE 55 CORRIDOR ACROSS EASTERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST
INDIANA. SOME OF THE STORMS MAY BE SEVERE WITH THE GREATEST
THREAT BEING DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL. LOCALLY HEAVY
RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE AS WELL.
THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS SATURDAY NIGHT INTO
SUNDAY ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTHERN ILLINOIS. THERE WILL BE A
CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA MONDAY.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
SPOTTER ACTIVATION WILL NOT BE NECESSARY THROUGH TONIGHT.
