NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.
.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:
THUNDERSTORMS...A FEW MAY PRODUCE:
STRONG DAMAGING WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.
HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER.
FREQUENT LIGHTNING.
AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:
THUNDERSTORMS MOVING ACROSS IOWA THIS MORNING WILL LIKELY
CONTINUE TO WEAKEN EARLY THIS MORNING AS THEY APPROACH WESTERN
ILLINOIS. HOWEVER...THERE IS THE POTENTIAL THAT ADDITIONAL
THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP BY EARLY THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS
NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWESTERN. SOME OF THESE STORMS COULD BE
STRONG AND PRODUCE STRONG GUSTY WINDS. THE BEST POTENTIAL FOR
THIS IS AREAS SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 80.
DISCUSSION:
A MID LEVEL DISTURBANCE MOVING ACROSS THE MID MISSOURI VALLEY
THIS MORNING IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND
NORTHWESTERN INDIANA LATER TODAY. THIS DISTURBANCE COULD LEAD TO
THE DEVELOPMENT OF THUNDERSTORMS BY EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. ENOUGH
INSTABILITY AND WIND SHEAR WILL BE PRESENT TO INCREASE THE
CHANCES FOR SOME ORGANIZED THUNDERSTORMS...ESPECIALLY FOR AREAS
SOUTH OF I-80. THESE THUNDERSTORMS MAY PRODUCE STRONG DAMAGING
WINDS AND HAIL. THE THREAT FOR STRONG STORMS SHOULD DIMINISH
DURING THE EVENING HOURS AS THE DISTURBANCE MOVES EAST OF THE
AREA.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY.
THERE IS AN INCREASED THREAT FOR RIP CURRENTS TUESDAY NIGHT AND
WEDNESDAY...ESPECIALLY FOR THE INDIANA SHORES.
THERE IS CHANCE OF ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS ON TUESDAY...AND
AGAIN FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
SPOTTER ACTIVATION MAY BE NEEDED LATER TODAY.
