Hazardous Weather Outlook

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS...SOME MAY PRODUCE:

DAMAGING WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.
NICKLE SIZED HAIL.
CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.
BRIEF TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS...WITH LOCALIZED FLOODING.

AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THIS
AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE THROUGH TONIGHT ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS
AND NORTHWESTERN INDIANA.

DISCUSSION:

A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS EARLY THIS MORNING CONTINUES TO LIFT
NORTHEAST AWAY FROM NORTHWEST ILLINOIS INTO SOUTHERN WISCONSIN. A
SECOND AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS WAS ALSO LIFTING NORTH ACROSS EASTERN
MISSOURI...HOWEVER THIS AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS WAS EXPECTED TO
END BEFORE REACHING NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

A WARM FRONTAL BOUNDARY HAS LIFTED NORTH OF NORTHERN ILLINOIS...WHICH
WILL BE THE FOCAL POINT FOR CONVECTION THIS MORNING. MEANWHILE THE
ENVIRONMENT OVER NORTHERN ILLINOIS WILL REMAIN CAPPED UNTIL EARLY
THIS AFTERNOON WITH ADDITIONAL INSTABILITY IS EXPECTED. THIS EVENING
A POTENT LOW LEVEL JET IS EXPECTED TO PUSH OVER NORTHERN ILLINOIS
AND NORTHWEST INDIANA...WHICH COMBINED WITH OTHER INGREDIENTS WILL
PROVIDE A PRIMED ENVIRONMENT FOR SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP.

IN ADDITION TO THE EXPECTED THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY THIS AFTERNOON AND
TONIGHT...ABUNDANT LOW LEVEL MOISTURE CONTINUES TO STREAM NORTH
ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS. WITH WILL PROVIDE A MEANS FOR THUNDERSTORMS
TO BECOME EFFICIENT HEAVY RAINFALL PRODUCERS ACROSS NORTHERN
ILLINOIS/NORTHWEST INDIANA. THIS MAY FURTHER AGGRAVATE SWOLLEN
STREAMS ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL CONTINUE TO BE THE MAIN HAZARDS WITH
THUNDERSTORM THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

PORTIONS OF THE KANKAKEE AND ILLINOIS RIVERS WILL REMAIN IN
FLOOD.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY.

THERE WILL BE PERIODIC CHANCES FOR THUNDERSTORMS FOR THE ENTIRE
OUTLOOK AREA WEDNESDAY AND AGAIN LATE IN THE WEEKEND.

PORTIONS OF THE KANKAKEE AND ILLINOIS RIVERS WILL REMAIN IN
FLOOD.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
