THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

THUNDERSTORMS...A FEW MAY PRODUCE:
HAIL UP TO ONE INCH.
STRONG DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 60 MPH.
LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL.

AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO BE ONGOING THIS MORNING
MAINLY SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 80. ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS
WILL DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE THROUGH TONIGHT.
THE GREATEST POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE
SOUTH OF A MENDOTA...PEOTONE...TO DE MOTTE LINE.

DISCUSSION:

AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE CENTERED OVER NORTHERN OKLAHOMA EARLY THIS
MORNING WILL MOVE NORTHEAST INTO NORTHERN MISSOURI LATE THIS
AFTERNOON...THEN INTO NORTHEAST IOWA BY LATE THIS EVENING. A
QUASI-STATIONARY FRONTAL BOUNDARY EXTENDS EAST OF THIS LOW THIS MORNING
INTO CENTRAL ILLINOIS AND INDIANA...AND WILL SLOWLY LIFT NORTH TO
ALONG A STREATOR TO KANKAKEE LINE BY THIS AFTERNOON. ALONG AND SOUTH
OF THIS BOUNDARY VERY WARM AND MOIST AIR WILL EXIST...WITH MOISTURE
CONVERGENCE STRENGTHENING AS THE LOW PRESSURE APPROACHES FROM THE
SOUTHWEST. AS THE FORCING INCREASES THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING
THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE IS EXPECTED TO INCREASE. TO THE NORTH OF THE
FRONTAL BOUNDARY THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE WILL BE LESS.

IN ADDITION TO THE SEVERE THREAT...HEAVY RAINFALL IS ALSO LIKELY
WITH THESE STORMS. TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS THROUGH LATE TONIGHT
COULD EXCEED 2 INCHES...ESPECIALLY AREAS SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 80.
THIS WILL LIKELY RESULT IN RISES ON AREA STREAMS AND RIVERS...WITH
FLOODING POSSIBLE IN SOME AREAS.

LOCALIZED MINOR RIVER FLOODING WILL CONTINUE ALONG THE KANKAKEE
RIVER.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS MAY CONTINUE THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY
MORNING...MAINLY ALONG AND EAST OF A PONTIAC TO GARY LINE.

LOCALIZED MINOR RIVER FLOODING WILL CONTINUE ALONG THE KANKAKEE
RIVER.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION MAY BE NEEDED THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT.
